What is the Online Research Programme?

What is the Classic ORP?

The Classic Online research Programme is a one-to-one course for students of all levels. The aim of the programme is that students combine subject tuition with the creation of a university-style academic research project, guided by a personal tutor from Oxford, Cambridge or an Ivy League University. Not only do students enhance their subject knowledge, but also develop academic skills crucial to success in higher education, such as independent learning, research and academic writing.

What are the AORP and Group AORP?

The Immerse Education Accredited Online Research Programme (AORP) equips students with the confidence and ability to prepare and write university-level research papers through 1:1 sessions. Accredited by the National Open College Network (NOCN), students who successfully complete the programme to the required standard will receive a Level 3 Award. This grants 8 UCAS points - the equivalent of one A-Level grade.

What is NOCN?

NOCN is an educational charity whose core aims are to help learners reach their potential and organisations thrive. NOCN has been creating opportunities through learning and skills development for over 30 years, and are the very first awarding organisation to be given the ‘Leader in Diversity’ award by the National Centre for Diversity, a leader in promoting equality for all in the UK.

What will I be taught on the AORP?

The A-ORP is split into two delivery modules: Research Skills, and Research Paper Tuition.

Research Skills Unit

The Research Skills Unit is a 5-hour module focused on giving students the skills required to write an advanced academic paper. The content for the Research Skills Unit has been planned and created in line with the requirements of NOCN.

Paper Tuition

Research Paper Tuition is a 10-hour component that is subject or theme specific. Students will work to plan, research and write a university-level research paper. As each student will be working on a different topic, tutors will adapt the material to the student’s needs.
